While each university has its own requirements for a student visa, the following are the standard ones.

  • Unconditional letter of acceptance from a German University
  • International passport
  • Proof of payment
  • Academic Certificates / Transcripts
  • Resume / CV
  • Bank statement with sufficient funds
  • Health Certificate

Living cost

German and foreign students can get funding through the German Academic Exchange Service, also called the DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst), to live and study in Germany for free or at a significantly reduced cost. While undergraduate studies at public universities in Germany are free, there is a fee per semester for enrollment, verification, and administrative processing. The annual expense of attending school in Germany is roughly 10,000 EUR.
